A years worth of hard work by Les Crowder and his team culminated on 03 October 2008 in a grand dinner-dance held at the Priestfield Stadium.
Almost 150 members and ex-members from across the decades attended in their best bib and tucker to celebrate the fiftieth year of Medway Sub-Aqua Club.
The evening began with propping up the bar, where old friends chatted and some old members renewed old aquaintences. Called into dinner, the festivities commenced in earnest with Peter Thompson hosting against the backdrop of a slideshow documenting members and events chronologically over the years. Tony Vincent, Ron Bignall, Colin McKinley and current chairman Kevin Tarr each spoke and covered the clubs activities from conception to present day including reliving classic moments from classic divers.
The band, Pzaz, played after dinner, providing a good mix of eminently danceable music and the traditional raffle had luxury prizes instead of plonk and sausages.
It was an excellent evening marking half a century of diving, and looking forward to the next fifty years of diving.
